Verdun Community Church is part of the Apostolic Church in Canada. The roots of the Apostolic Church can be traced back to
Wales at the turn of the century.
The years 1904-05 witnessed a mighty move of God beginning in Wales, then spreading throughout the rest of the United Kingdom.
During the revival, thousands were born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit, similar to what the first Christians experienced
as recorded in Acts Chapter 2 on the day of Pentecost. The Apostolic Church was birthed from this Revival in 1916 by
Daniel Powell Williams with many churches established in countries all over the world. Today we have churches in over 50 countries.
The Apostolic Church came to Canada in 1927 with the establishing of the first Church in Nova Scotia. Our own Church here in
Montreal began as a weekly prayer meeting in the home of a couple who attended an Apostolic Church while living in Wales.
In 1938 a request was made for someone to come from Wales to shepherd the growing group. In 1949, our Church was officially
recognized as part of The Apostolic Church in Canada.
The church in Montréal met in rented accommodation for several years until, in 1949, we moved into our own, brand-new building
on Gordon Avenue in Verdun. We remained at that address until July 2, 2004 when we relocated to our present address
at 501, Fifth Avenue in Verdun.
